Inclusive yoga for everyone.
Specialising in supporting those with individual needs and challenges to access and share in all the benefits and joy that yoga can bring.
Why Special and Chair Yoga?
Tree and Leaf Yoga provides the opportunity to those with special needs, conditions or disability to begin to connect with and understand their bodies through movement and simple yoga postures. By engaging with and developing your breath, a sense of personal, internal connection starts to establish. Then by tapping into your mind the whole self begins to connect. Levels of anxiety reduce, mobility, core strength and balance increase and you start to calm. This allows personal and social interactions and connections to develop: truly enabling whole health and well-being.
My awareness, understanding and experience
With over twenty years experience working with and supporting children, young people and adults with special needs and conditions, I am able to offer an empathic way to access yoga. I am a qualified teacher in all aspects of supporting people with specific needs and conditions, including specialising in sensory awareness in autism at Masters level. I have worked in specialist schools, including residential, from teacher to deputy head and am aware of all considerations required when offering practice to this community and setting. I am able to facilitate provision to support and meet EHCP outcomes. I am qualified and professionally registered with full insurance including enhanced DBS check.
Special yoga
I use movement, relaxation, breath, sound and massage to support those with special needs both young and old to access and enjoy yoga. Following the principles and precepts of Special Yoga methodology to support the joy of sharing yoga together.
I support and work with people who have a range of needs including autism, ADHD, anxiety and specific physical and mental needs. I include aspects of sensory therapeutic intervention, intensive interaction and alternative communication to enable each individual to maximise their practice.
Classes are tailored to specific needs and can be shared with groups, individuals on a 1:1 or paired practice. I can support families and siblings to join in a shared practice. Options of face to face or online available.

Chair yoga
Experiencing any form of mobility challenge should never be a barrier to enabling and accessing yoga and gaining from all of its benefits and enhancing both physical and mental wellbeing.
Whether you are recovering from an injury or operation, have a specific neurological condition that presents restrictive or impaired mobility, for example, Parkinson’s, then chair yoga can support you to move, relax, and connect with yourself positively.
Using all the principles of yoga practice of movement, posture, breath work and relaxation, chair yoga can really support and deliver great health and wellbeing benefits.
You will be supported in movement through gentle sequences and postures to open, stretch and engage with your body. All of this from the comfort and safety of your own chair.
